Indian News Channel : Owners and Political Affiliations

News Channels are responsible for Accurate, Fast and Genuine News Broadcast, but these days there are rising complaints about the authenticity of news. News Channels are found to be partial for their political master`s gain.

So we at Trending Samachar Decided to research on this topic as our first article and Results surprised us. Major Channels have direct and Indirect Political Affiliations and Links.

This doesn`t in any way mean that all of the channels are biased. We are just showing various political owners of Indian Media

Zee News- Owned by Subhash Chandra who was seen campaign and also openly support BJP in Lok Sabha Elections. 

Hindustan Times – Shobhna Bhartia, owner and editor-in-chief of Hindustan Times is a Ex-Congress MP from Rajya Sabha.
India News:  Owned by Kartikeya Sharma to Venod Sharma, a former Central Minister of Government of India from Congress


NDTV’s promoters are Prannoy Roy and Radhika Roy. Radhika’s sister Brinda Karat is a famous CPM leader (well known for anti-Baba Ramdev views) and Brinda’s husband Prakash Karat is the CPM Politburo General Secretary.

The Hindu –  N. Ram, owner and editor-in-chief (till February 2012) of The Hindu, was once a vice president of the Students Federation of India. SFI is the students’ wing of the CPM

Times group list - Times Of India, Mid-Day, Nav-Bharat Times, Stardust, Femina, Vijay Times, Vijaya Karnataka, Times Now (24- hour news channel) and many more. Times Group is owned by Bennet & Coleman. 'World Christian Council' does 80 percent of the Funding, and an Englishman and an Italian equally share balance 20 percent. The Italian Robertio Mindo is a close relative of Sonia Gandhi.


The Statesman: It is controlled by Communist Party of India.

Suvarna TV of the Asianet group is owned by Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrashekhar.

Sakshi TV is owned by Jagan Mohan Reddy along with NTV and TV5 in Andhra Pradesh.

Studio N is owned by Narne Srinivasa Rao, a businessman related to N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Odisha TV is owned by Baijayant Panda of the BJD. Other channels in Orissa are also politician owned.

Indiavision in Kerala is owned by Muslim League Secretary M.K. Muneer.

In West Bengal, CPI(M) controls TV-24 Ghanta

Trinamool Congress has Kolkata TV.

Sukhbir Singh Badal owns PTC and PTC News in Punjab.
